If you’re from the Midwest, you may have already came across this blogger. From fashion to beauty to lifestyle, Becky is using her platform to focus on the experiences of an Asian American woman with the aim of empowering women to embrace themselves and their identity.

We came across Becky @_its.beckyy  after seeing that laid-back, chic, and effortless style she has going throughout her content. Most of her posts would feature a lot of white and neutral colors that encapsulates her fashion aesthetic - minimalistic and elegant.

What fascinated us more about this woman from the Midwest is that she also has a passion for lingerie and hosiery. It was only until recently that she discovered her passion for them but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t done wonders for her because it truly has! Becky describes lingerie and hosiery as items that she wears to get a sense of empowerment, confidence, and body-positivity.

In this interview with Becky, we discuss how hosiery and lingerie has been her tool to become more confident, a reminder that her body is beautiful as is and a way to allow herself to be more confident in her own skin.

Interview with the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger from the Midwest @_Its.Beckyy

LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?

BECKY: Thank you so much for giving me that chance to talk with you as well! My name is Becky, I'm 24 years old and from the midwest. I currently work full time as an associate buyer in the retail merchandising industry; however, run an Instagram in addition to that. It focuses on fashion, beauty, and lifestyle through the lens of an Asian American woman. I aim to empower women to embrace themselves and their identity through my content!

LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and lingerie, what got you into posting hosiery and lingerie? Tell us more about it.

BECKY: I've actually only recently gotten into hosiery and lingerie! However, every time I'm in hosiery/lingerie I get a sense of empowerment, confidence, and body positivity.

LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?

BECKY: I think lingerie has two different sides for me. On one hand, it does make me feel confident, as I mentioned before. However, I also use it as a tool to become more confident. I think most women can relate to the feeling of self-criticism regarding their body, especially when it's in something as revealing as lingerie. Being in lingerie gives me the reminder that my body is beautiful as is, and the more I'm in it, the more I allow myself to feel confident in my own skin. So I wear lingerie more for myself than for sex appeal for a partner! And due to that, I love being in "traditionally sexy" lingerie like lacey pieces, but even the comfy unlined bras I have!

LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you?

BECKY: I'm very much so a functional person. I love a super comfy, buttery soft bra, and panty set. I haven't worn a push up bra in ages because it's just not comfy for me so I love my unlined triangle bras and cheeky panties and a nude or black color!

LECHERY: As wearing hosiery and lingerie can be seen by the wider-community to be vulgar, how do you react to the negativity?

BECKY: I definitely understand this sentiment, especially coming from a conservative Asian family. I think that's part of the reason why it took me so long to really look into lingerie. Overall though, I think the world is becoming more progressive, and it's becoming more acceptable. I try to block out the negativity and surround myself in people that support and gas me up! The more we have conversations like this or do things like post to social media, the more we'll be able to normalize it!

LECHERY: We live in a very double standard society, when a man is topless, it is normalized and accepted, but for a woman, she’s hypersexualized and stigmatized. As women, how do you think we should combat this?

BECKY: This is definitely a tough question because it's SO true, haha. But I think it comes back to my last point, the more exposure people have to conversations and content like this the more normalized it will become. Like many other social justice issues, it's important to have constructive conversations with the people around you, and not be afraid to call out someone on their double standard/misogyny. And for people on the other side to not only rely on us to educate them but educate themselves as well.

LECHERY:What do you hope to find in the hosiery and lingerie industry in the future?

BECKY: I think we're headed in the right direction, especially in the digitally native spaces, but I would love to see more diversity reflected en masse. This includes race/ethnicity, sexuality (LGBTQ+), and body types!

LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy? What is your advice to other women who struggle with confidence and body-image?

BECKY: I have a lacy black bra and panty set that I'll wear to give myself a confidence boost! And my advice to other women is that self confidence is work, and it can be a draining journey to get to a place where you are happy with yourself. BUT, don't forget to remind yourself that you are beautiful, you are not alone, and progress is not linear! Some days we may be doing really well and keeping up with healthy habits and some days all of it plummets and it feels like we're starting all over again. But we're not!! I try to remind myself that I DID take 2 steps forward and just because I ran into a bump, it does NOT mean that I took 2 steps backwards, but rather just paused for a break. I feel like many of us feel all or nothing when it comes to our journey to self confidence and so this is a reminder that anything other than arriving at your goal does not mean it's automatically a failure, it's still a success.

LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:

BECKY: Empowering, fun, experimental!

LECHERY:  It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?

BECKY: I've been able to pick up some hobbies and hone in on it! Some involve cooking new recipes, spending more time on my instagram content, and dancing...on tiktok.. (LOL). Self care is very important, more than ever, so being able to keep busy and try my best to maintain the healthy routines and habits I had in place pre-covid help me a lot!
