Interview with co-founder and co-host of The Momgasm Podcast @Lindsayumlahrhn
LECHERY: First of all, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to interview you! It is such a pleasure to have you here with us (virtually) of course haha! Let’s first start off by telling us a little bit more about yourself. What do you do?
LINDSAY: Thank you so much for reaching out! I love the opportunity to share, especially when it involves lingerie. I’m a woman of many passions, skills, and talents, including mothering two rambunctious girls. For the past 10 years, I’ve dedicated my life to deepening my self-love relationship, and leading others to do the same through coaching, Yoga, workshops, retreats and events. I’m a co-host & co-founder of The Momgasm Podcast, a platform & show dedicated to Mother’s wanting to explore their sexuality and eliminate shame from the conversation. So essentially you’ll often find me wearing lingerie, encouraging women to love themselves, and shouting about the importance of empowered sexuality.
LECHERY: We see that you're into hosiery and lingerie, what got you into posting hosiery and lingerie? Tell us more about it.
LINDSAY: For me, it was an extension of what I had already been doing in my life and work. I wanted to give myself permission to celebrate my body, liberate my sexuality, and crush the narrative that says you can’t be both a mother and a sexual being. The more lingerie I started to wear, the more I knew I needed to share it and hopefully by doing so grant permission to others to embrace that wildness for themselves.
LECHERY: What does lingerie mean to you? Does it give you confidence? Or is it just something you wear to give an added extra sex appeal? How do you feel when wearing lingerie?
LINDSAY: It definitely gives me a confidence boost, but for me it’s more about expression. Having a visual representation of how I’m feeling on the inside. I’ve always loved dress up as a kid, and for me lingerie is like dress up grown up style!
LECHERY: What is the perfect pair of hosiery for you?
LINDSAY: I’m not going to lie, I gave up on hosiery for a while and focused on everything but! Teddys, bra & panty sets, silk nightgowns, etc. It’s only been recently that I’ve been adding hosiery back into the mix. Often thigh high stay ups in black with lace detailing at the top. When you find a good stay up it’s a game changer!
LECHERY: Have you ever had a negative experience with a pair of hosiery you have bought? And what brands would you avoid buying from?
LINDSAY: Omg, who hasn’t?! I can’t count the amount of times I’ve thrown on a pair of stockings only to have them rip the first time. I’d definitely recommend staying away from department stores or pharmacy hosiery and give yourself something higher quality. Especially if you want it to last.
LECHERY: What do you hope to find in the hosiery and lingerie industry in the future?
LINDSAY: More inclusive sizing, and more variety of bodies in marketing. I’m so tired of seeing the same images, same bodies perpetuated in the media that tells the majority of the population that you can’t be sexy unless you look like “this”.
LECHERY: What type of hosiery should every girl have in their closet?
LINDSAY: Anything that makes you feel good! Everyone has different style/taste, and also different bodies. What works for one of us likely won’t for all of us. That being said, find some stay ups that you love because they’ll go with every other sexy thing you’ve got in your closet.
LECHERY: What is one thing you would always wear that would make you feel much more confident and sexy? What is your advice to other women who struggle with confidence and body-image?
LINDSAY: I definitely don’t have one specific thing, but I absolutely have a selection of lingerie and wardrobe items that help me get into my body more. One of my favourite things to do if I have a big presentation, interview, recording, etc. is throw on a bra/panty set that I love to give me that extra spice. I have a whole lot of advice and ideas when it comes to deepening your body love, but I’ll give you two short tips. Pay attention to who you’re following on social media, and how you respond to them. If you notice you’re comparing yourself or feeling poorly about yourself as a result you may need to take a break and intentionally fill your feed with bodies that are different and similar to yours. A variety of bodies embracing their beauty to inspire you to connect to your own. Then my other tip is spend time with your body. Sit in front of the mirror, take photos of yourself, book a boudoir session, and start to see your body as a whole instead of a sum of parts. You are a unique piece of living art, and when we pan out often we can start to see that.
LECHERY: Describe lingerie to you in three words:
LINDSAY: Empowering, expressive, and sexy!
LECHERY: It is a really tough time in today's world with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy and healthy?
LINDSAY: Well I’m definitely busy with two kids in the house and two businesses, I’m honestly needing a break lol. If you’re home lounging and watching Netflix, watch extra for me, k. As far as keeping myself healthy I’ve been prioritizing myself more. Every morning I wake I start my day with 15 minutes of pranayama (breath work) and meditation, followed by journaling. Setting the tone for the rest of my day has been so helpful! I’m also moving my body through yoga and daily walks which offers me a little reprieve.
